April 1-2, 2005
Uma's session was titled Between Images and Words:
The Inner Space of Picture Books. She talked about the unique art
form of the picture book, a perfect melding of verbal and visual, the process
of developing text for picture books, and getting in touch with your own
writing and art-making. Participants wrote and sketched from a quick
prompt, and discussed rules, exceptions, and getting past "like" and "dislike"
in analyzing picture books.
